Haringey Law Centre - ENFIELD

Haringey Law Centre is a charity that opened in 1976 with a mission to make a positive impact on people’s lives – particularly the most vulnerable and socially excluded.

We do this by providing independent legal advice and representation to people living, working and studying in North London. We have a physical space in Haringey at Edmonton to attend to the needs of Haringey residents and from the 1st of May 2022, we have opened the spanking new branch Haringey Law Centre – Enfield Branch in Edmonton Green N9 0TZ to cater for the needs of Enfield residents. We are a member of the Law Centers Network.

How we can help you?

Haringey Law Centre’s solicitors, caseworkers and volunteers aim to provide and deliver independent legal advice, assistance and representation in housing, debt, welfare benefits, immigration and employment law matters. We are open from 11:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m to the public, people can drop in to see us where you will be guided through our interprocess. We will conduct an initial assessment of the case to find out whether the Law Centre will be able to help you. If we are able to help, we will book people for a more in-depth appointment with one of our solicitors, caseworkers or volunteer lawyers. We will support you in the following areas of law.

HOUSING-having issues with landlords, evictions, re-possessions, suitability, housing reviews, damp, mould, etc.
HOMELESSNESS– struggling with Universal Credit, PIP, JSA, council tax arrears, challenging & appealing health assessments etc
WELFARE BENEFITS– Struggling with overdrafts, loan repayments, other debts?
EMPLOYMENT– Processing visas, residency, passport renewals, all immigration matters
DEBT- discriminations at work, unfair dismissal, etc?

Haringey Law Centre is a membership organisation. People can apply to become members and get involved in the life of the Law Centre. We also have a management committee made up of members who have been elected volunteer trustees. Trustees are elected/reelected at Haringey Law Centre’s annual general meeting and meet as Haringey Law centre’s management committee around six times a year. Trustees on the management committee set the Law Centre’s strategic direction and hold Law Centre staff accountable for legal and financial decisions they make. Trustees on the management committee are also required to ensure that the Law Centre’s accounts are independently audited filed with the Charities Commission by the end of each financial year.
